Marton Mere Nature Reserve

On my next outing I'm hoping to pay a visit to the Marton Mere Nature Reserve of which is only a 10 minute drive from my home address at Thornton Cleveleys.

The nature reserve should allow me the opportunity to get out and learn how to use my new camera and at the same time provide an ideal opportunity to take photographs of birds, insects, animals, flora & fauna and more general subjects. I'm led to believe that this location while providing a large range of habitats to include the obvious open water, grassland, reed beds and also scrub and woodland.

The opportunity to photograph the various forms of wildlife from the hides at the waters edge should prove excellent and I'm looking forward to many hours spend at this location. So watch this space as the saying goes.

Managed to visit today after work, Monday, 15th April 2013 and certainly added to my bird tally as you can see below:

Mute Swan

Canada Goose

Great Crested Grebes

Coot

Tufted Duck

Tufted Ducks

Juvenile Tufted Duck

Mallard

Black Headed Gull

During my trip around the western & southern side of the lake I also observed Blackbirds, Magpies and Cormorants. I will certainly have to return soon and perhaps utilise one of the bird hides in the area around the lakeside.
